The Pan-Canadian Examinations are scored according to the procedures accepted by the American Psychological Association, the American Educational Research Association, and the National Council on Measurement in Education. The examinations are scored by using a rigorous methodology that includes matching of examination scores produced by two different statistical packages.
The scale score range for the Pan-Canadian Examinations is 200 – 600. The scaled pass mark is 400. Total scores are derived from the combined performance on the MCQ (multiple choice) and CCQ (clinical case) components, of which each component is worth 50% of the total score.
Forensic data analysis is also carried out on the examination results to protect the security and integrity of the examinations. This may require investigation and invalidation of candidate results. For more information, please see CARB-TCMPA’s Invalidation of Results Policy.
In most cases, examination results will be sent to candidates by mail or via a secured registrant portal approximately 8 weeks after examination administration. Examination results will NOT be given over the telephone or by fax for reasons of confidentiality.
